What makes a successful landing page? CTA!
Have you ever seen a CTA on a landing page? Also called "call to action" and loosely translated as "call to action," these are small statements that encourage people to take certain actions.
I bet you've seen some of these calls to action that show up the most:
call now
check
know more
Send for consideration
quote
General rule of thumb
Usually, the procedure you ask potential clients to do should be the same. For example, it doesn't make sense to ask a user to "call now" when submitting a form, you know?
Requiring the user to "download the app" before exiting the multi-step app is also problematic. It gets more complicated if you have multiple calls to action without meaning or even with a high quality engagement.
Attract potential clients
Lead generation pages may not be responsible for selling, but that does not excuse them from attracting the most qualified leads. If you're going to ask a potential customer to fill out a long form, use the courtesy of breaking it down into multiple steps using the progress bar.
Also, make sure the potential customer is nice and includes only the questions that you need answered. By not asking for information, you are giving the potential customer permission not to share it with you.
Check out some of the most successful CTAs from major brands:
Netflix
CTA: Join free for 1 month
The big fear that users feel before subscribing to something? It would be a shame to unsubscribe if they don't like it. Netflix nip this fear in the bud with the “Cancel Anytime” text above the phrase “Sign up free for a month.” I would venture to suggest that one of the guarantees contributed to the increase in the number of applications. Also, you'll notice again that the red for the primary and secondary CTAs here matches the color of the Netflix logo.
drop box
CTA: Register for free
Dropbox has always had a simple design with lots of negative whitespace. Even the graphics on your homepage are thin and simple.
With its simple design and passive space, the blue "Sign up for free" call-to-action button stands out from anything else on the page. Since the CTA logo and Dropbox logo are the same color, a visitor can easily interpret the CTA as "Register with Dropbox". This is a powerful call to action.
expensive
CTA: Try Prezi
Prezi people also love the simple look of their websites. Aside from the green dinosaurs and sepia coffee, the only other color that accompanies the predominantly black and white design is bright blue - the same blue as its main logo. This bright blue is strategically placed on the homepage: the main "Try Prezi" call-to-action and an additional "Getting Started" call-to-action that directs users to the pricing page itself.
